MATT'S RPG GUIDE

This page is for all you RPG lovers out there! This site is mainly here so that I can give in depth reviews of as many RPG's, for numerous systems, that I can! I intend to give honest, "from one player to another" reviews, hopefully with many pictures. Come here to see if a new RPG you want is worth it! I intend to rate other games as well but since I don't play the other genres as much as I do RPG's anyone who would like to help is welcome. E-mail me with what you think! -Matt

Main Ratings

*Final Fantasy 7*
What the back of the box says: An epic adventure across 3 cd-roms. What begins as a rebellion against an evil corporation becomes much more. And what erupts goes beyond imagination. With vivid landscapes, lush 3-D animation and environments, Square Soft's multi-million dollar masterpiece is like nothing ever seen before.

Is it worth it? Yes, definetly. This is probably one of the best RPG's that has ever been made. You would probably be hurting yourself by not buying this one if you are a big RPG fan. Even if you don't like RPG's that much, this would probably be a good place to start. It's pretty simple to play and but this one will also give you plenty to do. Try the "Get all players to level 99 with one master command, magic and summon for each" quest. You'll probably never even finish that quest in this lifetime.

Biggest problems. -Translation: Is a major problem. Some items that are the same have different names when taken from treasure chests, Last Elixir aka Mega elixir. Still if you speak english you will probably be able to make sense of most of it.

-Confusing Storyline: Definetly one of the harder games too follow. Although it's not too confusing at the beginning by the end you become somewhat lost as to what is wrong with the main hero Cloud. After playing through it several times I'm still not sure I understand it all. Good story to use to start a discussion or arguement with your friends.

-Where to go: Another big problem is the prerendered backrounds. Gorgeous? yes, easy to find exits? hell no! If it's your first time playing get ready to use the SELECT button a lot. By the second time around you should be fine.

Survey says: Get it while you still can!(*10/10*)

*Monster Rancher*
What the back of the box says: Remember when you thought monsters were lurking in every dark corner of your house? Well, you were right: Every CD You Own Contains A Monster. Every PC CD, every music CD and every game CD each has a monster living inside. Use Monster Rancher to safely release these monsters into a virtual environment where You're The Master. Teach Your Monster Attack Moves. Capture your monster (on a memory card) and take him to a friend's house for some Head To Head Fighting Action. We dare you to find and train your ultimate fighting machine!

Is it worth it? Very neat game. It has RPG elements, such as building up a monsters stat (int, speed, power, etc.), and you get to go on trips searching for rare treasures that will help you breed newer and better monsters. It also includes fighting to a certain level. If you're bored of the normal turn based fighting this MAY be for you. You fight in a closed arena where the distance chooses your attacks. Not really turn based fighting but a fresh idea to a RPG/tomogachi(?). It is definitly an item anyone who wants something with neat RPG elements, without the turn based fighting, should look into buying. If you're a hard core RPG'ist then consider renting it first just to see if it draws you in.

Biggest problems. -Repetativeness: Yeah after a while it does get repetative. I mean sure there are tons of different monsters but still it's mainly the same seven with cosmetic changes. The numerous different attacks are pretty cool but still, many of the attacks are the same for alike families.

Life span: I see why this has to happen but still I find your monsters get too old before you can really get there stats up there. Well at least in the beginning. Once you start breeding your powerful S class monsters together you'll probably not need to raise there stats much more.

Translation: Translation is more of a minor problem in this game as they usually just miss articles here and there. Still you'll notice little mistakes often.

Survey says: Pick it up if you want a new sort of RPG, RPG extremists; rent it first.(+8/10+)
